Yes, there appears to be a 'glitch' in the matrix. I am getting only sporadic responses to clicking that cute little heart icon ... and to hell with Zuckerberg trying to restrict more nuanced feelings to a handful of cute emoticons – just as well I am banned from that 'funneling of the herd' site. Most recently, the powers that be are preventing me from even successfully buying Sage Hana a cup of coffee.
Just wondering how much of those dark algorithms have infiltrated substack to this point.
My cynical guess is that no heuristics or systematic defense against the constant gaze of the eye of Sauron (or grasp of Mammon) is permanently safe, and even substack will be overrun until we create another 'substack' or retreat into a new digital fortress within substack from which to shoot our flaming arrows into the beast.

My understanding of "liberal" from the time I was very young was "open." This is the path I've chosen, reading both sides and choosing my own way. I was in the US for the first time in nearly 4 years about a week ago. I have watched in horror from afar as the people I thought were "open" (my tribe!) have slid into fascism.
And yet, my daughter, who hadn't even lived in the US until she went to college in Portland, is okay wearing masks, and chose to get the jab, twice. She's had a tough first 3 years in the US...torn ACL needing surgery, the covid thing, and then forest fires in Oregon that made it truly dangerous to breathe. Her father didn't even offer for her to move to him (and his second wife) in California. I wish now that I had encouraged her to come to me in Germany, right away. I love her, and it's her life...and this breaks my heart.

And yes, in and of itself that is very good. But while GovInc. offers a concession without ever actually admitting wrong-doing on one side, they continue to tighten the ratchet with censoring thought and speech on the other. See how that works? This is the pattern they will use over and over. Doesn’t even matter what the issues are per se. It is always going to be a net loss for the people who want to be free if TPTB aren’t fully shut down all over everywhere.

Free speech never really goes away. It may go underground for a time, but it's impossible to stop it. They could ban all of us from the internet completely tomorrow and most of us would still find ways to share our ideas and opinions. Even in biblical times when it was a crime punishable by death to speak the name of Jesus Christ, Christians started to use the greek ichthys symbol to "speak" with other Christians. Even if we have to go back to publishing pamphlets and paper magazines, the truth can never be stopped completely no matter what technology the haters of true free speech try to use. I urge these monsters to keep pushing, they are only swelling the ranks of freedom lovers worldwide. The smart thing for them (the censors and haters of everything they don't agree with) to do is *ignore* those they don't agree with. But these people haven't figured that out and I don't think they ever will. And that only works to our advantage in the long run.
