I read it all now, thank you. This is the most obvious thing and yet so many are forgetting it: "... the more you kill and abuse the innocent, the angrier the relatives of the slain become. And once each side has gotten at the other side enough times, it will be just this endless carnage, back and forth, back and forth, with the more technologically advanced side generally winning until the masters decide to swap their bets and elevate and arm the other side."

After the horrific genocidal civil (tribal) war in Rwanda, social workers and psychologists went in there with a group trying to help heal the trauma and hatred. And to some extent it worked. Some people from both sides were able to get beyond the hatred and desire for revenge and were able to communicate with and understand each other. And forgive. It is possible.

However, wars involving entrenched religious beliefs get very complicated.

I talked to a woman from Rwanda a few years ago, she spoke of how the reconciliation worked. I think at one point, reconciliation is inevitable, or else everyone dies. Sadly, that is easier said than done but inevitable.

Interesting perspective. Hmmm . . . gangs are modern "tribes", but not necessarily based on close genetic relationships.

Historically tribes had their own territories and their members were the only inhabitants of their territory. They had a vested interest in developing and maintaining a social structure that was relatively beneficial for its members because they were all subjected to it. Societies just work better when certain standards of behavior are adhered to, otherwise strife and discord result. For instance, thievery in a small group is discouraged because of its injustice to the victims and generation of bad feelings towards the culprits, even violent retribution. Physical violence is also discouraged for the sake of harmonious coexistence.

But a gang living within a larger population of non-gang members becomes a parasite, wantonly "feeding off" the non-members and is purely destructive, much like an infection or a cancer is to a body.

And a nation is a collection of subgroups, some having tribal self-identifications and other demographics not being particularly tribal. But for the smooth functioning of that society, some semblance of tolerance and adhesion to social norms is required to prevent dysfunction and potential breakdown into chaos.

So even though one can say there are some analogies between gangs and nations, they do not fully equate.

It is hard to be a witness to what is going on, and wonder what we might possibly do to help the situation. Things have been spun up by the manipulators, and what can we do? What should we be doing right now? If our position is to be for love and for the innocents, and against genocide and tyranny.

Love is the most powerful force, and by sharing your thoughts here, you may be doing what you've been called to do. Also, to be mindful of not allowing the tyrants to pull you downwards into a state of discouragement and hopelessness. Right now, when all seems in chaos, is the time to nurture your strength and help uplift others. Speak your truth, pray, live honestly and stand firm. Shine your light brightly, as you are doing. This will help us find each other, and light destroys darkness.

It is possible to step into the fray and not get covered in the faeces of "pick a side"-ism being flung everywhere when we're facing an issue like the latest crisis. After a while, though, there doesn't really seem to be much of a point in continuing the exercise of 'taking a stand.' Between the maelstrom of 'opinions' and the trolls paid to pile in and disrupt any meaningful exchange, there soon isn't much of a conversation happening on any anti-social media platform. And, yes, all of that is by design, in my opinion--and it also includes here on substack (present company excepted, of course).

I jumped in early because I felt an obligation. I could sense the awful searing blast of propaganda being sent our way--towards any of us actual human beings who can still feel and think without confusing the two and straight at those who are easily duped. And even though I do not self-identify as Liberal or Left, I was appalled to see the gaslighting of that crowd. It was bizarre to witness.

The broader conversation surely has shifted.

Raphael, could you please clarify who you are responding to about the blog? It is unlikely me since my blog is not political but if you are talking to someone else then I don't have the context!

As far as politics and human psyche, politics is one of the avenues through which human psyche expresses itself, and it so happens that during the current time, that particular avenue tends to attract a particular kind of personality and choices. My conclusion is that philosophy is good when it's practical, not just sitting under a tree and thinking. The latter is pleasant and sometimes very needed but we are here on Earth to participate and heal things, not just step aside and refuse to have anything to so with it. I used to be on the "sitting under the tree" side of things for a long time and then I guess became stronger and more capable of dealing ithis world. :)

I have a few thoughts about Zionism. I can quite see why the persecuted Jews of Europe of the late 19th and early 20th century saw Israel as part of the answer to their predicament. It is also not so different to how various nations were born in Europe during the same period - people having to decide whether they were Greek or Bulgarian or something and which language they wanted to speak. In order to become the Czech national composer Smetana had to learn Czech first. I think the Irish language had to be pretty much reborn, like Hebrew - and there continued to be much bloodshed about these divisions and about borders. It looks as if one of these old disputes is being reignited in the Balkans at this very moment.

Another problem is adherence to some political authority - I grew up with the rule, more or less, that you don’t criticise the Israeli government but this was obviously completely unsustainable, and we also have to remember that the Prime Minister who wanted to make peace was assassinated in 1995 and the present situation stems in great part from that event.

But we also need to consider that we live in an era where nation states are under attack from globalist forces and the chaos they want doesn’t seem like a great idea either.

From the reading I've done, it is a political movement like any political movement. The trend in political movements in general is exploiting any real issues and twisting things in favor of a political goal. The book I have quoted in the article is very interesting and in-depth.

There is also a contemporary school of thought in Judaism where people believe that political Zionism directly contradicts Judaism. I am not qualified to know whether from the stand point of dogma that is correct or not but to me, the most important element of the story is that human beings cannot defy physics. The land was inhabited by people minding their own business. Muslims, Jews, and Christians were getting along, even despite some incitement on part of various political people. When you take an existing country with people living in it and minding their business, and superimpose a very small foreign state that tries to get rid of the locals or to humiliate them in various ways, one needs to either kill everyone local and their children and their friends and their children, etc. etc. or there is going to be a war that never ends. It doesn't matter what ethnicity or what state, things is how things work according to physics. It so happens that a war that never end kind of suits the purpose of people in high positions of power, an unstable world is a lucrative world for them. So I think everyone was thrown under the bus!

Historically, religious Jews - Haredi etc - were distanced from the secular Israeli state, they didn’t serve in the army: for them the only real return would need the appearance of the Messiah, but there seems to be a new breed of militant religious Jews powerful in the government coalition who want to take matters into their own hands. I am very far from understanding all the cultural elements in contemporary Israel however.

Beautifully expressed, Tessa.

Despite the pain of being disconnected from people I truly love, I’ve never been more grateful not to be seeing their opinions about the Israel/Palestine conflict or other propagandized situations since I left FB, X, and Instagram.

I had witnessed a situation shortly after the beginning of the Russia/Ukraine conflict began that illustrated many points you’ve raised in this piece.

I was at a funeral here in California, sitting next to a Russian friend whom I’ve known now for 13 years. With us was an elderly (American) woman teacher who had taught all four of my Russian friend’s children in her first grade class at a private school. She has known my Russian friend at least as long as I have. The three of us are Christians.

The teacher turned to my Russian friend and asked, “Do you have your yellow and blue ribbons to show support for Ukraine? Look, I put mine here on my purse strap.”

I was absolutely stunned at this woman’s idiocy. My Russian friend began to shake with emotion at being demanded to take a side. She was born in Russia, grew up in Kazakstan, when to Bible college in Ukraine, immigrated to Canada with her family where she finished college, then married an American and moved to California where she has lived since 2004, and put in all the necessary effort to become an American citizen. She is very proud of her dual Canadian/American citizenship, and values every cultural element of her life. She sent her children to Russian preschool to reinforce what she taught the children at home. She is connected to the Slavic community in her area, which is made of several nationalities. She has hired Ukrainians as housekeepers, nannies and skilled labor on household projects. She has traveled back to Russia and Ukraine several times to visit family and friends and share the culture, history, and architecture of both countries with her children.

She is a flesh and blood human being with a beautiful, nuanced, rich cultural and relational history based in both Ukraine and Russia.

This teacher who knew her was so propagandized, so deceived, so caught up in their own need to appear moral and virtuous, that they literally forgot who the person sitting next to them was. They threw aside true Christian charity and compassion for those who are suffering on both sides of the conflict for sake of virtue signaling.

What has the UN done to stop illegal wars and illegal actions, not just in Israel?

Nothing.

Why? Because the UN is rigged with the security council getting single veto rights which is authoritarian and not democratic.

Why is this ok? Because we didn't care before.

Now is the time to ask questions about war and peace.

I find it funny that a lot of those that saw authoritarianism with the covid circus don't see it when it comes to tribalism.

It seems that the last step to world peace is for humanity to no longer identify with tribal and racial traits and go by human rights (which is what the UN was supposed to do!).

It's happening, even in Israel there are protests against the war.

Hi, Tessa. You do an extraordinary job of conveying all of the heartbreak that comes from the violence in the world. Perhaps that's because of your being heart-centered, and having experienced a lot of the pain that comes from direct encounters with the soulless.

But I've found in my own attempts to deal with contemplating the worst of the world's pain inflicted on the innocent, especially the children, that it helps to more clearly define who the oppressors are. After years of historical study, it became clear to me that the people running the world aren't politicians or business people or religious people, etc. They're simply the world's most evil and vicious criminals - as in "do what we tell you and shut up or you'll be sleeping with the fishes." Their rackets are very old - the longest and most successful criminal rackets on Earth, dating back about 1,300 years, and originating in what is now Ukraine (surprised?). Back at the beginning, they were known as the name-stealers - the first perpetrators and users of what we now call identity theft. They hate the Russians because it was the Rus people who drove them out of their homeland (to what is now Poland and Germany) and then drove them out of there to the UK (specifically, to the City of London, which they founded almost 1,000 years ago; it's still their HQ today). They founded the British East India Company and used it to loot the planet at the time (they stole about $45 trillion in today's money out of India). They debilitated China with their control of the opium trade for more than 100 years (I don't think the Chinese have forgotten or forgiven this, and they still control most of today's worldwide drug trade). They control most of the world's human trafficking. Their banks launder the money from all of the world's worst crimes against humans and the Earth. They hijack whole countries and use them for their own criminal enterprises. They've been selecting for psychopaths and sociopaths for more than 1,000 years, using blackmail and assassination to enforce loyalty to their rackets. Is it any wonder that they've by now assembled a collection of the very worst that humanity has to offer the cosmos in their organizations? I could go on, but the point I'm making is that it helped me to finally understand who we're up against as just vicious criminals. It explains their behavior and gives me some hope that we can strip away all of the masks and labels they've given themselves to hide out in plain sight, and maybe one day put them all in jail for life. Their atrocities are now enveloping and debilitating the whole planet. Since I know you're a believer in correct use of language, I imagine you agree with Thucydides, who said that "Correct use of language is a moral issue. Its debasement is a symptom of moral breakdown." Let's all be honest about who the enemy is - they're just vicious thugs in suits and we should treat them as such.

Expand full comment

thank you Charles S. It is hard to stay focused on who the real enemies are, especially since part of their current plan for world domination is now to make Humanity the enemy of humans and all life. Stuffing us into 15 minute cities, with our consent, and using our social credit scores to control our use of money, with our consent, because they've convinced us that people are wrecking the planet. I feel like people are accepting this propaganda, and being distracted from the fact that all the wreckage inflicted on nature since the Industrial Revolution has been perpetrated by corporations in pursuit of profit. And these corporations are allowed and chartered by the very criminals that you are speaking of here.

The CEOs and people who run the corporations have accepted the trade the criminals have offered them - unlimited profit for themselves in exchange for participating in the plan to enslave all of humanity.

So thank you for using language and naming people what they are.

Tessa: It's going to be okay, eventually. This entire three-dimensional time-space universe is an illusion. Nothing is actually even here, except energy. You and everyone else is energy. Consciousness is energy. Love is energy! We are here as narrowly-focused facets of that greater Consciousness, and nothing bad can really happen to any of us. We are "role-playing" and experiencing and learning what works and what doesn't. We learn BY experiencing things. Our souls are gaining much from our experiences here. Learning to love and forgive our ignorant shortcomings in ourselves and others. "Young" souls make mistakes, but that IS how they learn. It is all "going to come out in the wash"! There is a saying: "There are no victims, only volunteers", and it is very true. We pre-plan the major events of our lives, and with whom we will interact in them, long before we enter our new human bodies. In the overall scheme of things, there "are no accidents".

And all this isn't just nice-sounding platitudes. Thousands of people who have had Near Death Experience or out-of-body experiences come back and report very similar stories of the Bigger Picture of how things really are. You know a lot of this already, I'm sure. Sometimes a little reminding just helps keep things in perspective. And sometimes we just have to step back and stop judging things. And allow people to have THEIR own experiences, and make their own mistakes. Remember: if a baby didn't fall down, he would never learn to walk!

The ONLY REALITY is LOVE!

Cheers!

A lot if things are not "necessary", and that's something we as a species need to learn. But in this "movie" of Life, there are the good guys and there are the bad guys. And every really good story is some version of "The Hero's Journey". Protagonist versus antagonist. The good guys encounter serious difficulties that they must overcome. And it makes them stronger and more self-reliant and confident, and SATISFIED. We love storied where the good guy wins! But it wouldn't BE much of a story without those challenges. WE come here to BE those heros! And even that cruelty is only part of the illusion. But it also teaches lessons, particularly for the perpetrators! People choose the roles they play, even if they have temporarily forgotten that they were involved in "writing the script". Grieving or stressing out (or being afraid or getting angry— also from fear) over something you have nothing to do with and can't do anything about isn't doing your own health and psyche any good, or anyone else's.
