certainly they are expressing love of power. perhaps Tessa said that from a place of feeling/intuition more than from a place of clear understanding? which means we may or may not get an explanation from her articulating just how a conqueror cutting someone's head off expresses love. seems to me she sometimes says certain things because she likes the way it sounds or how it may indicate aspirations to a saintly/godly frame of mind.

I read it as they are expressing their *desire* for love. I also have a hard time seeing how they are expressing love.
