Here be tigers, grrrrr. Thanks for all your work. I'm new to it, but it really sings to me. I think maybe the robots have bitten off more than they can chew (and they got no bellies, anyhow).
Academia is broke. It might have once had an element of curiosity, but at it's core, it's about domestication. It's about raising your hand to go to the bathroom, or speak. It's about looking up to a clown who dances, and aspiring to one day be able to have that role.
Interestingly, when I was a teenager in the post-Soviet Moscow, the academia was a beacon of free thought!! Of course the overall school of thought was still one-sided, as far as the assumed superiority of modern western thought over, say, old wisdom, but it was exciting, and knowledge for the sake of knowledge was a thing! So the uber commercial state of academia here (and thus, a manipulation beyond ego) has been a disappointing discovery for me. Now, it depends on the discipline, probably, and less "politically useful" disciplines probably still harbor curiosity but overall... a sad garden it has become!
It's tragic because even now I still found some light in academia. I had great teachers (coincidentally? most were influenced by the Russian school), but most fell prey to the propaganda. I don't think that's a coincidence.
Creativity and curiosity survive despite academic training, they are most definitely not nurtured by the system.
Having an education in chemistry, engineering, and geoscience, I assumed the hard sciences would be (mostly) immune to such manipulations and degradations... But, apparently, they, too, are being besieged. We are in a very sad state.
The Soviet education system in science was always better than ours. Russian students were doing experiments, discussing subjects openly, and learning teamwork, while ours were memorizing crazy theories. After Sputnik allegedly "woke us up", we got even worse, zooming off into the weird abstractions of set theory instead of turning toward practical experiments and skill training.
I think that is what is mean by the phrase "civilizing us"....beating out the curiosity, and it's accompanying creativity....because you are only as creative as you are curious.....
I really appreciate seeing the core elements of my work of bioregional herbalism reflected in this article! becoming present in Nature, authentic expression, experiential learning, recalibrating to the heart mind awareness - this is where it's at!
Wonderful stuff Tessa. Much gratitude as always. It's alot about science, this calculating instead of being, this testing and pointing and describing comes from science. If the basic element of a belief system is that the universe is made from bits of stuff, then you're going to want to measure them. On the other hand if you see the universe as an unfolding, evolving consciousness, you're more likely to want to experience it, to dance with it and to sing its songs.
Great piece, Tessa. Far too much snip-snipping going on, figuratively and literally. As a man, I think, POOR MEN who have willingly given themselves to castration in this pay-to-play theater of the absurd. And then I think... poor women.
Thank you Tessa ! You are smart and loving and inspiring at the same time, writing these type of things.
We all need women like you, like a force of Nature!
The stronger the grip, the stronger I feel.
And you are really part of that enforcement. Its good not being alone, despite I’m in Brasil and you far away from here … wish someone write these things in portuguese!
Also, I first read it as "a horse of nature" which I liked, I like horses. And it's also a good metaphor since we do the work in order to be free. :) But it was funny. Thank you!!
Beautiful Tessa, you're speaking my language. I'm so glad you still have your balls, and I have mine. The only thing I have for the tiny man with scissors is laughter.
Indeed, it is the willful separation from nature, from the manifestation of divine intelligence, that's at the root of the pervasive human madness we're witnessing. Holding in truth and consciousness may be a lonely job, but someone's gotta do it.
Thank you, David!! Someone gotta do it.. :) The interesting thing is that we are all born to walk and express and live and actualize our respective truths. All of us. Some may have a special designation to deal with the big picture more so than others but there is a sacred truth and divine meaning in everybody's path.... more people need to wake up to it and walk it!!
On another blog I commented about a vision I had of evil being unleashed when Barry was first elected. Someone commented in agreement. I followed the bread crumbs and ended up here. As I read this my mind went off and I just cried. And I'm a full grown man. Don't stop sharing your message.
tessa - you're in this song! maybe slow the video down starting at about 3:13

Oh wow, thank you for letting me know!!
Tessa, you are in this song too (and hopefully, we all are).

Seems like honest knowledge is being besieged as a genre of thinking!!! It will take all of us to push back...

A good robot does not ask why, it either does it or asks how.

Oh yes!
So... this man on the staircase-image you used reminded me of Hughes Mearns' poem 'Antigonish':
“Yesterday upon the stair
I met a man who wasn’t there
He wasn’t there again today
Oh, how I wish he’d go away
When I came home last night at three
The man was waiting there for me
But when I looked around the hall
I couldn’t see him there at all!
Go away, go away, don’t you come back any more!
Go away, go away, and please don’t slam the door
Last night I saw upon the stair
A little man who wasn’t there
He wasn’t there again today
Oh, how I wish he’d go away"
Please carry on being the wonderful peasant you are, using language the way you do and keep avoiding all efforts to derail you.
❤️

Thank you Navyo!! I hear you, and yes, a lot of it. :( Hopefully, nature is more powerful than the psychopaths. And the spirit surely is.
Unlearn and rewild !!!

Still seeking "reality". It's not as easy as I thought.
I don't need to take the stairs this-life-around...
Those particular stairs are very tricky!!
