This is another bubble-investment scheme, but I suspect they have some secondary or "alternate" purpose for a pipeline that they don't want to discuss. The initial bubble-investors are bound to take losses, but somebody, somewhere wants the pipeline for really cheap, for something inherently profitable.

"Maybe they just want your land" is a given. :) I looked into carbon sequestration in detail about a year ago, and at least at the time, the "industry opinion" seemed to be that there was not much commercial use for the proceeds. Unless they want to sell it to plants.... :) Perhaps something has changed since. But in the world where there is no limit to what kind of lie is acceptable, they could make ANYTHING up and temporarily let it fly...
