One great source that I've been reading is greekmedicine.net. Goes into great detail about this traditional holistic system of medicine (particulary Western medicine though touches base on Eastern practices as well).

Some books I've been reading are 'The Practice of Traditional Western Herbalism' by Matthew Wood and 'Traditional Western Herbal Medicine' by Elisabeth Brooke. Both of these sources go into wonderful detail not only about healing with herbs, but also how the body works and the basics of healing.
