That is so true! Really, the good meaning of the word "activist" is "not indifferent," which is kind of just the normal state of a human being who is whole
Thanks for the gracious conversation embedded in truth admonishment to contribute to where collectively we find us. For these of us which find this our truth YET stuck, We salute you.
I’m only half way through the podcast and already I’m inspired. I have been writing under a pseudonym on and off for decades, maintaining a convenient escape hatch into anonymity when it’s convenient. I listened to a podcast with Jordan Peterson and Dr. James Lindsey a few days ago and came away from that realizing that I needed to step into a bolstered state of courage and stop hiding. Now I stumble upon your podcast with Mickey Z, a lovely person, and it seems that God continues His nudging. Bless you Tessa. Make Language Great Again ... by giving it heft with courage and transparency, leaving the fallout in God’s hands.
One thing struck me about this excellent interview and after reading a few comments: how do activists, protestors, and artists/writers pay their bills? Mortgage payments, electricity, water, insurance, food, internet, gasoline, maintenance of HVAC and plumbing and yard, their children’s school supplies and sports activities, etc. ?
These seem to require a salary from a job which then gets you labeled as a right wing or a conservative.
So to be considered left wing or liberal, you must have all these bills being paid for you? But how? Parents? Inheritance? Spouse? Benefactors? Government?
Just wondering. Question not about anyone specific, but my position and career would not have allowed me to march or wave signs outside a building, because I would have been inside the building working to provide for others dependent upon me. I can’t believe I would be paid $12,000 / month to shout slogans and wave signs and protest stuff.
I think you are describing the old choice between "freedom" and "security." Both are a bit elusive I think since sometimes one gets paid well for creative endeavors, and sometimes jobs disappear and so the security is only there while it lasts. And now all rules are out of the window anyway, with the not so great reset and all. But prior to a few years ago, most creative professionals would make their own schedule, musicians usually play at night and so can do other things during the day, etc. All case by case probably!
Thank you so much for the information, Tessa Lena. Such income is what made my refusal of the jabs so stressful. Since then, I have thought about how can we have real freedom yet not lose our lifestyle. A consistent monthly income is necessary and a trap at the same time.
My dream was to be a writer or an artist but I saw wonderful artists in subway tunnels and thought society does not reward those talents with a living wage.
"When the Christians, the Jews, the Muslims, the conservatives, the progressives stand for what is right in my view, I stand with them. When they are wrong, I oppose them. To be true and authentic often means that a person must have the courage to walk alone among people who have almost completely surrendered their identity to a group of some kind for the sake of gaining safety and emotional support." I think it's a very healthy approach!! I, too, agree or disagree with sincere people on individual points or individual sentiments, while respecting their soul as a whole.
Love Mickey, love you Tessa, wonderful conversation, Yah bless <3

Please put this on rumble too, substack video player is buggy AF
I will!! Thank you for the reminder, I have to do it for several interviews.
Love you two 🤗 You both exude love and light and generously shine those forces into the universe 💓🙌
Strongly held opinions and beliefs... such things aren't worth much. Knowledge is worth seeking.
Amazing! As a black woman, I've been through a similar process as Mickey Z. This thing transcends the isms and schism!

But I have never heard of a creative professional (outside of those with a significant social status) who would get paid 12K a month.
There are paid protesters, such a thing exists but they probably get paid a lot less. :)
