The News Cycle Is Designed for Anxiety. You Don't Owe Anyone to be Agitated or Scared
A loving reminder that you have everything you need to prevail, and that it is your birth right to kick a$$
Again, I had to plans to send any story this morning but then I checked my feed, and .. oh boy.
So now, I am compelled to share the most important thing I feel and know this moment. Ready? Here is the most important thing: absolutely no matter what kind of striking or scary news cycle theater or even real disruptions we may experience, we can—and it is in our best interest to—stay calm and remember why we are here.
Here’s how I personally discern the messages that I get (articles, interviews, etc.). I look at the energy that comes with the message. If the energy feels like a drug, guess what, it probably is. If the message is designed to make me addicted to my news feed, or to fear, or even to the feeling of being “smart” because I am in the “in” group of people who “know” what is really going on (unlike those other, inferior people who have no idea), it’s a drug.
Our entire culture is a culture built on addiction. Addiction does not necessarily have to be to drugs or alcohol. Addiction to emotions or ideas can be as strong.
Some emotions act like a roller coaster for the soul, they pull you in like a sweet bulldozer and subversively separate you from our core element, from your alignment, from your powerful soul, from your internal calm. And addiction to those “sweet bulldozers” can be very strong.
Aaaand, the thing with such “stimuli” is that they may actually feel thrilling and refreshing for a short while, especially when juxtaposed with stagnation. But then, just like a real drug, they eat you up. Sure, the Creator designed this world (I think) in a way that everything, including addition, can be turned into positive knowledge and a pathway to clarity but …
In my personal observation, if people choose to indulge in such emotional drugs for a while, they make it easier for the aspiring masters (who function primarily as energy thieves) to perform theft. While people are distracted with overbearing externally-driven emotion, the thieves get in and drain the creative juice that does not belong to them. Please protect your creative juice!!!
And yes, it is very good to have a healthy situational awareness. But I would strongly recommend to discern the energy behind what you read. There are people with good intentions, and there are people with not-so-good intentions, and the latter exist in different layers of media, including the alternative, and the alternative-to-the-alternative, and of course, unsurprisingly, in the mainstream.
Camaraderie, when it’s real, lifts you up. It doesn’t feed you drugs, it inspires you to be even-headed and strong (with love) during peace and during storm.
“Camaraderie” and “empowerment” based on the sentiment of being in the “in” group of people who “know” what is really going on (and feel “smart” because they “know”) can be a drug and a Trojan horse—and, in my experience, it often is. No matter the brand, no matter this, no matter that. Please trust your calm soul.
Trust your wise soul first, and then anyone else. There might be a lot misinformation coming, and it is my recommendation to always pay attention to the energy of the message, and not to the brand name.
Under stress, you can always pray. You can always pray like a child, and it doesn’t have to be this formal theology, or that formal theology, if you just listen in and focus on the joy of existence (that is timeless), you will find a way to pray that works for you at a particular time.
I believe in you. I love you. And I thank you for loving me and believing in me.
Yes, we need each other, and we help each other better when we stay calm.
Here is a collection of stories I have written overtime that may come in handy as a weapon against fear.
You are eternal! Yes, of course, it is good for each of us to protect ourselves AND to really think that through in practical terms (and it is our responsibility, in fact)—but emotionally, we really got no time for fear (and here is a poignant post by Jeremiah Hosea who I think subconsciously inspired me to use this phrase :)
And here is my list:
A note to readers: If you are in the position to do so, I very much encourage you to become a paid subscriber or donate. I love you in any case, but it helps A LOT, and I am in a dire need to get more donations and paid subscribers while keeping my posts free. Thank you from my heart for your support!
The headline was supposed to say "owe" not "own." Sure I realized it a few seconds after I sent it. Humility!! :)) Fixed it.
Thank you, I love the article. We are definitely in some strange times and more people speaking up for keeping your head while opening your heart at the same time is needed. Thanks for filling that space.
