Conspiracy, Mob Morality, and Amnesty: A Conversation with Charles Eisenstein

... and the meaning of life, while we are at it.

This story is about my conversation with Charles Eisenstein. Recently, I reached out to Charles to discuss his views on “conspiracy theories”—and we ended up talking about everything, from the trajectory of our civilization to Emily Oster and her “pandemic amnesty.”

Backstory

In September, Charles published an article titled, “There’s No One Driving the Bus.” It kind of read like Charles was saying that conspiracies did not exist. However, based on my earlier conversation with Charles and his work in general, I wondered if that was what he was really saying—or whether it was just one chunk of what he was thinking about on a given day, a phase in an ongoing inner monologue, a side of a convoluted plot. I wondered if, in the words of fact-checkers, the conclusion—imprisoned in mechanical letters—was “taken out of context.” :)
