i posted this at gato's place, thought i should share here as well:

substack has also been infiltrated AF.

anybody getting "likes" from one "hannah williams," who keeps changing her profile pic?

https://substack.com/profile/133379718-hannah-williams

how about "linda?" https://substack.com/profile/1840889-linda

look at who "linda" subs. what stands out the most?

Sadly, I think it's infiltrated in more ways than many of us can imagine. And most likely it didn't start with Substack. :)

Expand full comment

Correct!

I read some of Hannah's Substack posts. Her book reviews seem to be short and shallow. It made me wonder. The fact that the pic used (supposedly of her) is of a beautiful girl also is a red flag.

Expand full comment

i think she's a deep state bot. and those book reviews are computer-generated

Expand full comment

Clearly, a deep state "hotbot."

lol the infamous Hannah Williams! I was wondering the same. No doubt Substack is infiltrated by contracted compliance goons after Chelsea Clinton's hysteria about censoring it fell through – no doubt the administrative stage agents went covert at that point. As far as I can tell however, Substack (and to a lesser but decent degree Twitter too) is still a bastion of reality-checks. So far, so good.

If our wish is for us all to return to a place free from illusion, and where we no longer accept stories without evidence then surely it is time to demand that those who support the notion of contagious viruses show some shred of evidence for their isolation in a living human. That, or admit that they have what amounts to a religious belief in them. This is now a fundamental issue; we either ontinue to see the world through beliefs, in which case we continue to open ourselves up to anyone and everyone who charms us or we assume to be on our side; or we demand evidence and scrutiny about anything that can be used against us or society. I find it staggering that after the last three years this is still not the place most are willing to ground themselves.

Expand full comment

Yes! As Celia Farber said , and I memorized, “We are trained to trust the authority of the person, rather than the authority of the evidence.” I find this to be an excellent filter.

Was unable to add tweets to body of substack article yesterday. Had to do screen caps with links.

Wow, another day, another expression of censorship. Of course, it's possible that in addition to everything else, someone is trying to coerce Substack into compliance, or to sell the company, etc. As one of many strategies...

April 5, 2:26pm Subject:Introducing Substack Notes

Sounds a bit like a Twitter feed.

I really hope Substack remains a thoughtful and thought provoking, free speech zone. I've really enjoyed the subject matter and the discourse.

I hope these changes aren't steps towards becoming part of the bigger one world, one voice, whole

Been like that for three days now. Apparently Substack released "notes" a twitter copy so the blue bird is retaliating. They'll run out of runway here soon with office space and salaries in SFO unicorn land. Setting up a parachute on Ghost and exporting email list regularly.

I was afraid of this. All the dissidents have been allowed to move with unnatural ease (in interwebz terms) to substack. Made me worry it could be taken down suddenly in the event of something Big, crippling free communication within a huge part of the thinking community when it’s crucial.

I noticed Greenwald was in and out of substack quickly and moved to locals. Made me more suspicious.

I just tried to "like" your tweet, and got the same error message. And it doesn't show any "likes" so they must have fallen off.

So Eugyppius writes on Twitter

OK, so if you write for Substack, and you use Twitter, you need to set up a custom domain, and your links will still work here as before.

It's not great but it could be much worse.

Wow!!! How did you do this?!! Wonder if they censor select accounts? Thank you for letting me know!!

I would only say we ought to scream blue murder any time anything like this happens but also not to assume there isn’t some kind of glitch, and is systemic. Myself, I have been shadow-banned across the web and social media since eternity and the arrival of Elon didn’t make any difference.

I hear you, John!!! There is always a possibility of a glitch BUT I have also been shadow banned for years, and with Elon's advent, it only got a little worse.

Ahh yes. I remember something about the EU getting to Elon Musk and reminding him he has to obey their data rules, which differ from US. And I have noticed functional weirdness with Substack when I try to print out a Stack author's essays in case they are lost, buried or whatever.

Emily Oster was interviewed by Hamish McKenzie. She was shocked by the response to her October '22 request for a "pandemic amnesty" but unrepentant. I ended up having my comments deleted, and a lifetime ban from his channel. I discussed it in this video interview with Chris Thrall: https://youtu.be/0CKvKN5wjt4

What if every effing substacker resigned within a week? Just kidding, I know folks are too attached but really, what would give 'the owners' a clearer message? We know who we are now, and we are at mop up stage as things disintegrate....give them a strong sign of what a walk out looks like.

Ok...I just went to twitter and shared my Friday Substack. It loaded but when I went to LIKE the post I got a message that said: "some actions on this tweet have been disabled." Then I posted just a little statement with no link to substack. It posted and I was able to LIKE it. So it looks like I can share my substack link but an no longer add any LIKES to my Substack posts. But other post not related to substack post and can LIKE with no issues.

When I get home I will try to share todays Substack and let you know what happens. If this is true all authors that have paid subscribers need to organize and let Substack know you are ending paid subscribers. They will go under in a week and they aren't about to have that happen. I did read that Musk was thinking about buying Substack. Hmmm

This particular change started just now (maybe within the past day). In the past Twitter, tried to buy Substack, unsuccessfully so. I think starving out the competitor is a part of it, and what else is a part of it, we don't know!
