Scientists Have Gone Mad and Decided to Use a Not-So-Nice Brain Parasite as a "Drug Delivery System" to Deliver Drugs to... Wait for It ... the Brain
This is like "preventing bank robberies" by giving free guns to the people who say they want to rob a bank
I have no words. The idea is so, umm, strange, and can potentially cause so much pain to so many people that I have no words. Please look out for it, and if anyone offers to infect you with a brain parasite to help you with your brain, well… don’t just blindly agree to it. :-)
(I thank for alerting me to this recent toxo “research.”)
See, there is this whole new trendy direction of “medicine” where they explore infecting people with—well, usually something nasty—in hopes of curing something else. Last year, I covered the proposal to infect people with another protozoan parasite, Neospora caninum, to “treat cancer,” and now the scientists suggest infecting people with GM Toxoplasma gondii, which is a really bad idea because toxoplasma tries to get vicious (not a little vicious but seriously vicious) any chance it gets.
I have written plenty about toxoplasma, an intracellular protozoan parasite that is very ubiquitous, it can infect any warm-blooded animals and also fishes and birds, and it is said to be present in every third or every second person in the world.
A good place to start is my Parasites page.
Toxo is known to be able to sit in ambush for a long time, even for decades. But when one’s immunity drops due to stress, age, toxins, additional infections, EMF exposure, bad vaccines, etc., it tries to raise its head and go to war. When it goes to war, it loves to cause inflammation in the brain and the CNS, which is why ushering it to the brain in any shape or form is insane.
It can successfully infect neurons, immune cells, and it can use macrophages to transport itself around the host. It is implicated in dementia, neurological issues, psychiatric issues, inflammatory conditions in different organs, etc. In my opinion, a very large amount of “mysterious issues” and especially dementia are caused by toxo and similar undiagnosed bugs. (Oh, and I believe that symptomatic people can be infectious, which nobody mentions, so all this is actually a really bad idea).
In other words, this is not something that one wants to insert into any part of one’s body under any circumstance. Not for any reason, not as a vaccine, not as a treatment, not in any way at all.
The scientists, however, beg to differ, and so they came up with this great ides to use genetically modified toxoplasma as a “drug delivery system.”
Me, I think that this is an incredibly irresponsible thing to propose in any shape or form, so perhaps they have lost their minds.
Summary: Researchers genetically engineered the parasite Toxoplasma gondii to deliver drugs across the blood-brain barrier. This innovative approach has been used to deliver therapeutic proteins to neurons, showing promise for treating neurological conditions like Rett syndrome.
The research highlights the potential for parasites to act as delivery vehicles for large molecules that typically struggle to penetrate the brain. This breakthrough could lead to new treatments for a variety of neurological disorders. [← Disorders that have been caused or facilitated by parasites or other infections in the first place?!!!]
Key Facts:
Parasite as a Delivery System: The study engineered Toxoplasma gondii to transport therapeutic proteins through the blood-brain barrier, a significant challenge in treating neurological diseases.
Potential Treatment for Rett Syndrome: The researchers demonstrated the delivery of the MeCP2 protein, whose deficiency causes Rett syndrome, showing the potential for addressing other protein deficiencies in neurological disorders.
Implications for Other Diseases: The method offers a novel approach to treating conditions caused by deficiencies or abnormal expressions of specific proteins, opening avenues for future therapies. [← Oh, no.]

characterizing the use of a brain parasite as a drug delivery system as a bad idea is a massive understatement- it is anti-human and pathologically insane.
I have not spent a lifetime around cats, even while pregnant, being very careful not to test pos for Toxoplasmosis to have some idiot inject me with it.
I joke about it being the reason I am a slave to my kittehs, but I have never been pos and never intend to be. Toxo is frankly weird and should never be considered for any medical purpose. WTF. One of the effects is that 'mind control' thing where you just accept the predator in the room. I don't trust our 'betters' with that.
