Saturday Thoughts That Have Nothing to Do with the Spectacle or Any Famous People on TV
A mini-protest against the news cycle taking over our minds, again
I forgot to turn on the comments for all on the story I sent last night!!
Oops.
As I was sending it, I was also playing detective, walking up and down the stairs, and trying to resolve a mysterious issue that was causing my entire apartment building to buzz and slightly vibrate. Started in the middle of the night and went on till morning! I won’t lie, a couple of conspiracy theories crossed my mind (who is digging secret tunnels under my building, yo?) But it turned out to be an unusual piping issue in the basement. No tunnels. Phew.
That, by the way, is nothing comparing to how a couple of years ago, at the height of monEypox, I discovered a large pile of “biohazard” plastic tubes on my building porch. Eager to save my city from a bioterror attack (and why on my dissident porch, hmmmmm), I called 311. After waiting a while and giving sound prompts to a bunch of robots, I talked to a human being, then to a group of very important emergency experts, who informed me that they won’t come to check it out.
No helicopters. No hazmat suits. Nothing. I was disappointed, to say the least.
When I got back to the porch, my building super was happily hosing the pile of suspicious tubes all over the place, water running down the street and all.
“How stupid of them was it to leave those tubes on the porch,” he said. “What if something bad is in them?!”
I bit my tongue about the potentially anthrax-laden water running down my street and went home.
A note to readers: If you are in the position to do so, I very much encourage you to become a paid subscriber or donate. I love you in any case, but it helps A LOT, and I am in a dire need to get more donations and paid subscribers while keeping my posts free. Thank you from my heart for your support!
Got the soggy, high-pressure anthrax blues again, mama?

Here is a hint I learned the other day for a doc who studies environmental poisons. He said never to use liquid zeolite as a detox. It makes a deadly combination with aluminum. So knowing I had a stash of detox drops in the fridge, I actually found a combination of drops with liquid zeolite in the formula, and another of the straight liquid, so I trashed them. Powdered zeolite is nasty looking stuff. I suppose I thought it was a palatable work around. No such thing.
