Beautiful piece. I keep thinking that most people keep hoping that the 'grachs will wake up--snap out of it. If only we paid more fealty to them? Then they would love us again? No, their's is a special kind of malevolence. Maybe it springs from resentment, for not being able to feel empathy? Maybe the only "joy" they feel comes though their peculiar kind of sadism, where the pain of others triggers a faint quasi-empathy. But unfortunately, that just makes them angrier, more resentful, more cruel. This is what I imagined when I hear Obama say: "We tortured some folks". Or the giddy quip from Hillary Clinton regarding Gaddafi gruesome death. It seems that other people's suffering is the only thing they feel. Maybe, in a sick way, this is how they connect?
"Mercola," while he was still "allowed" to run his own site, banned me forever for speaking my mind a a civilized fashion. These days, it's hard to believe that he still exists. I wanted to buy his archives with the comments (the comments were a lot more memorable than his articles, anyway), but was ignored. His original site kept publishing stuff 3-5 years later than what was available in my book from 2012 without ever mentioning my name. His site used to be good for discussion and there are a few articles he is publishing that are good, but only sporadically.
