Excellent. Every one of these absurd measures has been a crime against humanity and everyone who pushed them should spend some time in jail.

“… everyone who pushed them should spend some time in jail.”

You are compromising, Mark. As a philosopher posited: “in a compromise between food and poison only death wins”

They should spend in jail time corresponding to the crimes against humanity.

"Public good" is just another synonym for Marxism, the serpent which has damaged so many lives. I've never been to Russia, so have no feel for what Soviet life was like, but I have a gut feeling that those in charge in the U.S. today are less competent at lying than the Soviet goons were. The roots of the carnage the world has experienced since about the mid-19th Century, all the wars and depressions, can be traced back to the City of London and their Wall Street partners (including Brown Brothers and Prescott Bush, the daddy of George H. W., and grandpa of Dubya). They (thanks to Montague Norman of the Bank of England) financed both Trotsky and Lenin, and the rise of the National Socialists in Germany. Fascism was quite popular among the elites in Britain from the 20's on. But hardly anybody knows any of our history except what they have personally experienced.

..."a tremendous cognitive dissonance as “my people” have become more right wing than right-wingers themselves." I'm an old leftie - the old kind, you know, social justice & the environment & end corporate pillage & let's-make-the -world-better-for-ALL-of-us-type-leftie - but Covid made me an ex-leftie. Kinda broke my heart watching my old friends & now-former colleagues swill all that Kool-Aid. They are swilling it still! 4 years later. What a time... (& also ... soooo well-written!!)

Thank you once again, Janet!!! I hear you! I left behind (for now, anyway) a lot of musician activist friends. They are brave people but they have been hoodwinked on this one. I mostly get along peaceful with them, we just don't talk anymore. :)

Beware. There is no "public good." Many different individuals (people) use the phrase public good to represent some fictional community that includes all communities. At the same time, even as the phrase "for the public good" is uttered, it is used to EXCLUDE those individuals and communities who dare act against the putported "good public."

All individuals live our lives in communities of communities of communities - even those who claim to represent the "public good" by excluding individuals and communities that do not conform.

There is no overall community, no "public good" community. This is essential to health, wellness, and life. Individuals participate in communities by cooperation with other individuals and move forward by cooperating and by competing with other individuals. Communities are also proto-individuals in larger communities, cooperating and competing for individual and community benefits.

Total cooperation, a total focus on the community goals leads to stagnation. An individual or community that only cooperates "for the community (public) good creates stagnation.

Total competition leads to anarchy. Communities that promote total competition, a focus on benefiting individuals disentegrate into smaller communities, where local cooperation is the glue holding the community together.

Healthy communities have a flexible blend of cooperation (community good) and of competition (individual good) in their component individuals and communities.

There is no overall public good. The phrase public good is simply a propaganda tool, a technique used to apply force, to exclude, and sometimes to abuse those individuals and communities who "dare to disagree."

To your health, Tracy

I might sound naive but I feel as though humanity is splitting up. I feel some people are angelic. I recognise them now. You are one of them Tessa. I think these people are persistently refusing the the concepts of wars and corruption at all cost. They are very talented and by doing their thing, the are in a flow and that flow changes Earth. I feel this. Many beautiful people are changing the vibes. That is why we are, I think, on a turning point

Said the genius to the frog:

"My good-ah is better than your 'shoulda woulda'

The 'experiment' beats your 'woulda coulda'

I gots me a Pee Haich Dee

I'z as smart as could be!

Yup, took five now I'll take me a nuddah!"

The frog got a headache and jumped away.

The COVID dollar drenched sugar plum seems to be like an aphrodisiac nectar to the powers that be. The powers that be are making mistakes, such as the obvious squelching of proven medicine and vitamins that are effective treatments, and it is clear that I am not at all alone in my recognition that this exposes Oz as a tyrant. What has become for me, and I suspect for many others, inescapable is that onerous truth. It only makes sense that human communities rely on consensus, and it appears to me that mass media is still pretty much in control of that consensus. But. I am pretty sure there are a goodly number of other folks out there who see the lie, and that is the durable genuine pravda.

Well, your wish for change from Trump was granted: how did that work out?

so you're saying that Hitler WAS trying to build a better Europe. I think you're right. The only problem the germans are adding to they add to it by accepting all of this bullshit. It doesn't seem that a people can rise up without being led by somebody with big money behind him. Richard Pryor said you don't need to spread democracy at gunpoint if it's a good thing. If it's a good thing, people will steal it.
