„The illusion of freedom will continue as long as it's profitable to continue the illusion. At the point where the illusion becomes too expensive to maintain, they will just take down the scenery, they will pull back the curtains, they will move the tables and chairs out of the way and you will see the brick wall at the back of the theater.“
These words have haunted me since March 2020.
It is evident that the mass-production and mass-consumption of the last century are no longer profitable to those people who promoted both (regardless of the human and environmental costs) in order to enrich themselves. The tipping point of debt that powered the outgoing system was reached in 2008. After which point, I suspect, concrete plans for the current pseudopandemic were made. Since 2008 the debt-based system has been artificially, and only temporarily, propped up by so-called „Quantitative Easing“.
The new system that is planned - the 4th Industrial Revolution, the Great Reset, whatever you want to call it - has no requirement for mass-production or mass-consumption as economic drivers. Hence, the masses (ie you and I) are no longer needed; in fact, we are seen as a positive threat to the success of the new system and must be made harmless through reduction in numbers and technological control.
Basically, I believe that what we have been witnessing since March 2020 has been a preemptive strike by the 0.001% against the rest of the human race as they knew that if they didn’t strike first their fortunes, and possibly even their lives, would be forfeit when the 99.999% realised that they had been the dupes of a rigged pyramid scheme that left them and their children in the end owning absolutely nothing and no better than slaves.
"Wolff believes—and I believe it’s plausible—that it is out of their own desperation, i.e. the desperation of the rich, who are very scared of losing control." - absolutely.
This is the conclusion I've also come to. The "controlled demolition" of the global economy with the lockdowns - that further impoverished most of humanity while dramatically transferring more wealth to the top - certainly suggest that both greed and desperation are both at play for those uber-wealthy who control the planet.
These people populate the same oligarchic systems of control for which a half a million dead Iraqi children are considered - "worth it" - and the horror of two world wars during the past century was not considered too high a price to maintain their wealth, power, privilege and control.
These are the same forces that don't care if you and your family are homeless, living under a freeway overpass and dumpster diving for your next meal - but they expect you and I to believe that the covid related mayhem and associated ongoing assault on our freedoms are because - "they care about us" so very very much.
People can tell themselves that they didn’t see where things have been heading for the last 17 months, but they did. They saw all the signs along the way. The signs were all written in big, bold letters, some of them in scary-looking Germanic script. They read …
“THIS IS THE ROAD TO TOTALITARIANISM.”... Yes, that’s harsh, but this is not a game. It isn’t a difference of opinion. The global-capitalist ruling establishment is implementing a new, more openly totalitarian structure of society and method of rule. They are revoking our constitutional and human rights, transferring power out of sovereign governments and democratic institutions into unaccountable global entities that have no allegiance to any nation or its people. That is what is happening … right now. It isn’t a TV show. It’s actually happening. The time for people to “wake up” is over. I think the theory is plausible as well, but there will have to be more to their effort. One of the interesting aspects of events these days, something I have not seen mentioned very much, is the reconfiguration of who is on what side.
I see people who were once on the left now realizing they were at least partially mistaken; and of course a similar phenomenon is happening on the right. So as “teams” are being reconfigured, the power-cravers are doing their thing.
Once the monetary system is converted, an inevitable eventuality, that’s when black markets start sprouting up. That’s going to be fun to watch.
When President Eisenhower warned of the Military-Industrial Complex, I think he should have added that we need to keep a close eye on the “Posse Comitatus Act”. That’s where the rubber meets the road!

Thank you, Tessa Lena, for reminding me of Ernst Wolff. Half a year ago I 'forgot' about him as I found his (well-wrought...) impromptus too depressing; but he is an important voice. In a German podcast, he made the astute point that K. Schwab could've helped de-escalate the proxy war in Ukraine, he had the clout to invoke his influence to that effect - but did not. Of course not. We can't expect him to. His ideology militates against such a stance.
That said, I find the Digital Financial Complex more frightening than anything... How can one say NO or speak up against such a monstrous scheme?
Tessa I think Wolf has nailed it. And your piece on energy is going in the right direction, IMO. The problem is the arrangement - hierarchical rule of the few over the many. The system is choking and the reset is an attempt to stave off total collapse. But the kind of tyranny and totalitarian vision proposed must be stopped, IMO.

Yes, they are afraid. I'm thinking their fear is based on the oil situation; you know, the Peak Oil situation. The elites are very Peak Oil aware -- none better. And they know that at some point in the 21st century oil will no longer be recoverable as an energy source. We're very likely past the peak now, which means the remaining oil will be less in quantity, more expensive, and of poorer quality. Since the beginning of the oil age (ca. 1860 on) there has been an explosion in population, as oil energy has been converted into food which has been converted into people. As oil declines in availability, which it is doing now, there will be a corresponding decline in population. My guess is they have run scenarios through their think tanks for decades and come to the realization that if they do nothing the human population will decline to somewhere between 0% and 10% of its current levels (with corresponding chaos). If they do something (great reset, etc.) they think they can keep the level closer to 10%, and insure that they themselves belong to the 10% cohort who survive. There is no substitute for oil. What we really need is divine intervention (the good kind, not the other kind that the elites are banking on (Bohemian Grove, and so on)).
