Something we are not being told may fill in the gaps-- In response to western powers imposing sanctions on Russia (essentially attacking directly the ruble by confiscating all Russian assets held in USD), Putin tied the ruble to gold bullion and is now refusing to accept payment in dollars (calling them "worthless as the messages in Chinese fortune cookies"), for its' natural gas exports to EU. European countries desiring to purchase Russian natural gas must now pay for it in rubles or gold bullion.
This imperils the USD as the reigning global reserve currency. Huge amounts of EU-owned USD being forced to convert into rubles will flood world markets with unwanted dollars. I am no economist, but this is likely to trigger either a slow or fast collapse of dollar purchasing power both domestic and worldwide. One way to slow down this collapse would be to slow down the purchase of Russian natural gas by EU member countries.
This is bad, folks. Many countries of the world have grown sick of USD hegemony pushing them around for several decades now. They are likely to jump at any chance to take a swing at the wobbling prize-fighter-bully "USD" and help level out the playing field. Soon there may be no more "1st world countries" as we've come to know them.
Many and different little acts of compliance are demanded. It's the compliance training that's important. We will all have to lock-step to respond to crisis again soon. Look at Shanghai. They are in serious civil-defense-training mode. The threat comes from anywhere, be constantly anxious.
