Tomorrow’s Philosophy Club zoom call for paid subscribers (Friday December 8, 2pm EST) is about language swapping.
Language swapping is something that predators do to confuse their desired prey.
For example, today, a classic example is when they talk about equity, sustainability, and anti-racism—while they really mean censorship and a demolition of middle class standards. They mean nothing good--but they use “good” words to evoke the warm and fuzzy feeling of justice in the mesmerized and paralyze the ones they target for immediate eating. Their misleading use of “anti-racism” is no different from their earlier misleading use of “hostile Indians.” In both cases, they want to “disarm” and steal. But they hope that their linguistic sleight of hand will create the necessary confusion—and let’s face it, they often succeed.
Language swapping is also frequently used by all sorts of propagandists for “loyalty formation.” When I was a kid, the idea of the “Motherland,” implying a sense of loyalty to the communist party, was assembled from “natural” elements like the love of the land, feeling sentimental about the Russian birch trees, and appreciating good relationships with family and friends.
I would like to specifically discuss our experiences of having “big” ideas formed, both in childhood and as adults.
