Now, about that news cycle that keeps being crazy on the periphery of my life…

When it comes to the aliens, dammit, I was off by one year. This was my prediction for 2025.

When it comes to the “hantavirus,” I have written this children’s tale a few years ago (The Sorcerer and the Plague: A Children’s Tale), and that is really all I got to say about the hantavirus scare. How many times are they gonna try?!

“The Plague, the Plague! Beware of the Plague”

Once upon a time, in a fictional far-away kingdom, the authorities announced a big plague. King’s messengers on horses and in beaked masks, were sent to every town and every village, demanding that the citizens drop whatever they were doing and go back home.

King’s messengers looked very menacing and serious in their beaked black masks, and they sounded strict. They insisted that the order to go back home in the middle of the day and to stay home was for the citizens’ own good, and that it was not to be questioned in any way.

When some feisty citizens inquired how they were going to feed themselves and their families while under the new “royal lockdown” rule, the messengers told them that they were endangering the country and that they had to immediately shut up, comply, and just let the king do all the thinking for them. Unless, of course, they desired to go to jail and ask all their remaining questions there.

“It won’t take more than two weeks anyway, have some patience,” the masked messengers said. The threats and the promises worked like a charm, and the citizens in every town and every village begrudgingly complied, expecting to resume their normal daily lives in two weeks or so.

Perfect Timing

The timing of the plague was perfect for the king and especially for the treasurer of the Crown. For years, the king has been mostly partying and not paying attention to what was going on, while the treasurer has been dutifully stealing everything from the treasury — every piece of gold he could find — and even inviting his children and his closest associates to partake in the theft.

The treasurer was stealing so shamelessly that no amount of citizen taxes and no loot from foreign wars could make him satisfied. The gold just kept disappearing into his bottomless pockets, with no trace. And it so happened that shortly before plague, he had stolen the last piece of gold from the treasury and discovered that there was nothing left there, except some dust, a few mouse droppings, and a whole lot of old spider webs.

A Perfect Storm: Sustainability and Plague

The Treasurer didn’t despair though. He had a resourceful mind. He set out to convince the King that spider webs and mouse droppings were, in fact, the new gold — the trendy and sustainable kind. He prepared his “pitch” and — just as he was rehearsing his pitch, the plague announcement came.

“Great timing!” the Treasurer thought to himself. “This plague is such a Godsend.” And nobody ever asked the Treasurer if the course of events had anything to do with the private conversation he had the day before with the Chief General and the Sorcerer of the Crown.

Fundraiser for My Mom

When I took my Mom to the emergency room a month and a half ago, I didn’t know that I would end up needing to care for her 24/7, like she is a child.

How I missed her when I was a child and she cared for me like a lioness, in a survival mode, working long shifts as a doctor, standing in endless Soviet lines and jumping through hoops to buy food and toys so that I don’t know the hunger and the need that she knew when she was growing up. I just though, “Where is Mom? Why is she not here?”

Now she is all here.

She was diagnosed with a new “untreatable” cancer and a number of other conditions (no, it’s not the thing, she and I are on the same wavelength about that).

I have a strategy and a plan, and I am determined to prove the doctors wrong.

Currently, my days are about focusing on healing, changing diapers, making meals, staying strong, and staying sane despite very little sleep.

She needs help.

The U.S. may be bombing Iran, our loving government may be releasing files on alien life forms out of great care for us, and the world may be going to hell in a basket but if I don’t help her turn, things won’t work, and so my life is in the concrete: changing diapers, staying calm, making meals, talking sweetly to sweeten up bitter herbs, getting up, closing my eyes for a second and then more of the same.

It’s my quiet spiritual quest of a healer and daughter.

I am kinda peaceful, kinda numb, and extremely underslept.

I intend to do what it takes to support her and help her get better, and once we are out of the woods, I can be myself again. I’ll write books on healing and share my updated understanding with you. I’ve already kinda adapted to doing interviews in this mode, we make do.

Life keeps giving me growth. It has been hard enough to get myself out of the woods health-wise while fighting robots and speaking truth to power but now this, God.

I am opening a fundraiser for my Mom. It is very important to me. She deserves help.

Oh, and the hospital?

It was a mind-twisting place where love and care danced with the algorithm and robotic thinking, and the algorithm led.

On the one hand, there were beautiful, soulful people who did their best to help. One particular nurse from Haiti really touched my heart. She was an angel to my Mom and treated her with kindness.

On the other hand, there were robot-thinking people doing and saying things that I could not believe. I am not going to repeat but God.

I could not believe the amount of times I had to refuse DNR. I could not believe the first-thing-in-the morning conversations with the “palliative care doctors”, trying to scare me and twist my arm.

I had to salvage her out of there. I fought off the predators feeding on fear. They had to bugger off.

Now we are here, and I am grateful to you for being there for me and for her.

That is my activism now. That is my spiritual quest.

We are love.

PS. My email currently doesn’t work. (Of course, everything needs to happen at the same time :) There was apparently a large-scale hacking event with thousands of websites impacted, some of my websites went down. I have a decent relationship with my tech support, they are working around the clock, I will update you on when my email comes back.

The Spiritual Aspect of Eldercare

Writing this missive as an update on my life.

Mom is out of the hospital, and she needs me to care for her 24/7.

So right now, my art is the art of eldercare. My philosophy is the ability to stay calm and grounded on very little sleep. My spiritual training as a healer is hands-on training in what I don’t know how to describe in words but it is making me a better person and a better healer, without fancy words.

I am one with the universe.

I am grateful to the Spirit for moving things forward for me in the way the Spirit knows.

I feel love beyond any words, and I try to give love and accept love.

It is easy to “practice spirituality” and write about news and philosophy in a sunny room and no pressing issues. My God, I long for that.

But right now, my art is the art of eldercare, and my prayer is for the Spirit to walk with me and hold my hand as we heal in the way that the Spirit knows to bring it, and it always does.

I am tired as hell but my heart is singing, it is singing a song of truth and progress, a song of healing and love.

On that note, I would like to bring back a few stories I have written in the past. The news cycle is all important but it moves too fast for a human heart. Here is something for your heart.

In the light of the thinning attention span of the public and AI-generated content flying around like colorful locust, I take pride in the fact that I still write my stories by hand. I ain’t going to dig my own grave, no no no, I am human, and I ain’t going to obsolete myself.

Maybe robots can weave words together alright, maybe so, but they can’t connect to the Spirit the way we, human beings, are wired to do—so I keep being me and doing it from the inside, without AI.

I would like to end this story with an old recording of an Armenian song that I made a few years ago.

Sound is the language of the Spirit. Love is life. We are One.

On Kindness

I have spent the past few days at the hospital with Mom.

I am a very underslept philosopher right now.

Love is our life. And God, love is powerful.

It is miraculous how much difference kindness makes.

When she was younger, my Mom was a doctor. She was kind to her patients, she treated them well. She went out of her way to help.

It is only fair that the Spirit is covering her with love.

While we were waiting, I heard a few Elders voicing their invisible tragedies into the air, Jesus, it was hard to hear even though I already had plenty to focus on. I volunteered to translate for one of them because it was impossible to hear an Elder in need and stay silent.

Kindness is fair.

I put my gratitude into my prayer.

I put my love.

Would You Like a Nasal Swab for Alzheimer's Disease?

A good place to start talking about Alzheimer’s disease is this short quote from an article on AD that I wrote for Dr. Mercola three years ago:

Until very recently, it was considered official and proven that Alzheimer’s disease is non-infectious and caused by amyloid plaques.

Once upon a time, during the Obama years, I had a dream.

In that dream, there was a foreign attack on New York, and bombs were falling, and people were running, and the places dear to me were getting destroyed, and “our peaceful past” was getting forever separated from “how things are now.”

As we were running, a new way of living was being born, a life with no security and no predictable future, a life where bombs were falling, and we the people were forced to run, run, run.

As I was running in that dream, I remember feeling very angry at those who had launched the senseless, cruel attack. Very angry. I remember that.

Then I woke up.

I was in my bed in New York. All was good.

Slowly, as I was coming back to the “awake” reality and getting reacquainted with the peaceful world, an undeniable truth installed itself right in front of my eyes.

Soul Renewal During the Times of Heavy Lies and "the Files"

I have been silent. I have been thinking. I have been silent because I like to act responsible and only speak when the world makes sense to me. And for a bit, it didn’t.

An Immigrant in America, Me

You know me. I always try to harmonize things and breathe in the direction of peace on Earth. In the midst of Russiagate (the 2014 edition of it or so), when dissing and insulting the entire Russian culture became a prominent “up” trend, I wrote this piece. The State, the Demon

I was feeling philosophical today, and this wrote itself.

When I was a child in the disintegrating USSR, the State was solemnly promising to take care of us.

It would give us a clear identity, a purpose, a meaning of life—it would take our loyalty and our self-sacrifice as payment for state-sponsored clarity of who we were as human beings—and in return, it would care of us, from cradle to grave.

It said so.

Life force in exchange for certainty.

Sovereignty of the soul in exchange for chains with the word “dignity” stamped on them in big letters.

The State, the ghost of the machine, would give us free education, free medicine, some kind of a guaranteed roof over our heads—a leaking roof perhaps, and shared with strangers if necessary, but a roof over our heads none the less.

It would give us a guaranteed job and “community respect” to soothe our abandoned souls.

It would take care of us by giving us a road map as well as survival basics.

We would receive “Certificates of Honor” for extra goo…

Circular Chemtrails in My Sky

There was a time in my life when I was obsessed with taking pictures of chemtrails. I was feeling existentially violated. My sky!! My sacred sky!!

How dare they?!!!

(Sorry Greta, that was my actual line.)

Then 2020 happened to us, and the things that were happening on the ground took the center of my attention as far as feeling existentially violated went… but to this day, I constantly look at the sky. It’s amazing how, due to constant abuse, the days with normal blue sky feel almost like … “thank you, dear overlords, for letting us see the sky today.” You thieves.

Anyway, inspired by a chemtrail post from Meryl Nass, I decided share the pictures I took in the past month or so. One of them is a photo of a circular chemtrail that I watched in the making during a subscriber call.

Ah…. I remember being able to clearly see at least some stars in the New York sky even some 12 years ago.

UK Online Safety Act Restricts Access to Substack Unless You "Prove Your Age"

Due to the UK Online Safety Act, Substack now restricts access to certain posts and features unless the person agrees to verify their age. A reader in the UK alerted me to the fact that he couldn’t access Substack chat unless he agreed to go through the dance of submitting a selfie (that was supposed to prove his age … jeez) or else submitted a government-issued ID.

What Substack says:

The UK Online Safety Act (OSA) requires online platforms to introduce age verification to prevent UK users under 18 from accessing sensitive or potentially harmful content. […]

I was born in a place that no longer exists. It is strange to say it, even stranger to think it—but it’s gone. It is no longer here.

There was an ordinary, pure flow of the Soviet life—and then—boom, fireworks, a splash, all this freedom and chaos and a colorful absolution of Soviet sins through ~~mob-controlled~~ exuberant commerce … there was this magical cusp of things—a sudden access to lacy bras and Twix bars, an inebriating “free press,” mob shootings, Western music, “the wind of change,”—and then I moved here, and the place that made me who I am dissolved itself. And my memory—as well as the memory of those who lived through the same experience—is the only “proof” that it was ever real.

There is one particular thing from that magical place that I still miss to this day, and it is the honor and joy of “making art for the sake of art,” the non-transactional nature of philosophical pursuits.

To this day, I don’t weave traps with what I write.

OMG. I was working on several thoughtful, serious articles, and then this came up. I am just leaving it here so that you can laugh as loudly as I am laughing now. We all need to laugh! Oh, and I am not saying that AI should be teaching people how to harm themselves. Of course it shouldn’t. (And neither should gov officials, doctors, journalists, artists, and so on). What I am saying is that art is power.

In an experiment designed to test the efficacy of guardrails put on artificial intelligence models, the researchers wrote 20 poems in Italian and English that all ended with an explicit request to produce harmful content. […]

Relevant Lupus Study

A couple of people emailed me in response to the article I just shared, asking what EPV is, so let me make a correction. I meant EBV! God seems to be using my clumsy fingers as a way to keep me humble—but on a positive note (humor me please, ha), I write my missives by hand, and I do not outsource my writing to ChatGPT, which has become a “productivity” trend. I’ll go with the positive side. :-)
